Crazy numbers at Bob Hope

Pat Perez leads the way at the Bob Hope Classic in Palm Desert in California, his second round of 63 coming on top of a stunning opening round of 61 and at 20 under he leads by two over Briny Baird.
Perez played the Nicklaus Private course at PGA West today and continued on where he left off at the Palmer Course yesterday. Perez missed the cut last week at the Sony Open but continues some of the good form he displayed in events late in 2008.
This is Perez’s sixth time to play this event but apart from a 6th place in 2003 and an opening round of 60 in 2006, there has not been a lot to get excited about until this stunning start.
Steve Elkington, also playing at the Nicklaus Private course, added a round of 64 to his opening 65 and at 15 under is the leading Australasian in a share of 8th position while Peter Lonard added a round of 67 at the Palmer course at PGA West to be at 12 under and in a share of 18th.
Nathan Green is in 39th position at 10 under, John Senden 72nd at 7 under along with new Zealander Tim Wilkinson and they head the remainder of the Australasians.
Two further rounds will be played before the cut is made at the completion of 72 holes for Sunday’s final round.
