Hall favourite at Victorian PGA

The Cellarbrations Victorian PGA is the next event on the Australasian PGA Tour, the tournament starting on Thursday at the Greg Norman designed Sanctuary Lakes at Point Cook on the outskirts of Melbourne.
This week’s field will include most of those who played in last week’s Victorian Open including the winner Ashley Hall, who won this title in 2007. As a result of his two shot win at Spring Valley Hall now leads the 2009 money list and has a very good chance to extend that lead here this week.
In 2008, Hall won this event just a few weeks after leading the qualifiers at the Australasian Tour School. He came from seven shots behind the third round leader to win in a playoff over Tristan Lambert.
Perhaps the most significant addition to last week’s Subaru Victorian Open field is 2008 Moonah Classic winner Ewan Porter. Porter, who struggled for much of the season on the nationwide Tour after his impressive win at Moonah Links, began to play well late in the season and contended at the Australian Open before finishing 11th.
Recent Von Nida Tour event winner’s Michael Long, Tim Wood and Aaron Townsend are also in the field along with Peter Senior, last week’s joint runners up, Scott Laycock and Craig Scott and Paul Sheehan who finished in a share of 4th at Spring Valley with Townsend.
