IN: News | Queensland Mens | Keperra Bowl (2005) | Round Two | 11 May 2005
The 36 hole cut in the Keperra Bowl has been set at a score of 148 (4 over par). 90 players, including 3 players exempt from the cut, will play the third round at the Keperra Country Golf Club tomorrow morning, with play scheduled to commence at 7:00 am.
Western Australian Colts Team representative Michael Foster (Hartfield GC) leads the tournament, after two successive rounds of 65.
In today's 65, Foster recorded a bogey on the long par 3 12th hole. Starting his round from the 10th tee, Foster had 3 birdies and the bogey on 12 in his first 11 holes. His run from holes 3 through 9 was birdie, par, birdie, par, par, birdie, eagle - to finish on 65.
Foster leads the tournament by 2 strokes, from Australian representative Marc Leishman (Warrnambool, Vic). Leishman fired the tournament's low round this morning - a bogey-free 64, to go with his first round of 68.
Such is the life of today's leading amateur golfers that by the end of June, Leishman will have contested tournaments in seven overseas countries in seven months. He has represented Australia in Argentina, Mexico, and New Zealand recently, heads to Japan this weekend, and to England, Scotland and the United States next month.
The leading group tomorrow morning will comprise Foster, Leishman, and Ben Pisani (Indooroopilly) - the leading Queenslander, who has had rounds of 66.67 - 133.
Australian One-Day International all-rounder James Hopes had a round of one-over-par 73 this morning, and missed the cut by the narrowest of margins.
