Day shares Puerto Rico lead

Australian Jason Day has retained a share of the lead after round three of the Puerto Rico Open at the Trump International Golf Club although this time it is American Michael Bradley with whom he shares the honours.
Starting the day in a share of the lead with his fellow Australian Matt Jones, 21-year-old Day moved ahead when he moved to three under for the day through 9 holes. A back nine of 37 however completed a round of 70 and at 12 under he shares the lead with Bradley who added a third round of 68.
The pair has opened up a four shot lead over Jay Williamson, Brett Quigley, Greg Chalmers, Omar Uresti, Kent Jones, Cliff Kresge, Bart Bryant and Bryce Molder.
Day, who is in just his second season on the PGA Tour is seeking his first victory at this level. While the Queenslander became the youngest ever winner on the Nationwide Tour in 2007, he battled injury issues last year but still managed to retain enough status to guarantee several starts this season.
With so many of the leading players in Miami this week for the WGC-CA Championship, this tournament offered a good opportunity for players such as Day to make progress on the PGA Tour money list and for the Queenslander it is a case of so far so good.
In the three starts he has played to date in 2009 he has made all three cuts with a best of 14th at Pebble Beach and he has shown enough already in 2009 to suggest that the significant potential he has shown in his first two years in professional golf may soon be realised.
