Tamworth’s Julia Boland has jumped into a one shot lead after the second round of the Australian Stroke Play Championships at Brisbane Golf Club today.

A one over round of 73 saw Boland edge one stroke ahead of Stacey Keating, who fired off a 74 today.

Ebony Heard retained her position at number three after also posting a two over 74, while New Zealander Zoe Brake was the big improver of the day shooting a two under 70 following on from her first round score of six over 78.

Brake now shares equal fifth with NSW’s Justine Lee, Korea’s Annie Choi and Taipei’s Pei-Ying Tsai on four over 148.

Boland, the current Lake Macquarie Amateur champion, loves to play from in front and may be hard to peg back, but expect good friend Stacey Keating to push her all the way.

The top 32 players from the Australian Stroke Play will then qualify for the Australian Amateur Match play Championship, which starts on Monday at Royal Queensland.
