The Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open signals the return of the Ladies European Tour after a break of four months since its last individual event at the Women’s Australian Open in February.

This week’s event is played at the Golf Gerre Losone Golf Club in Ticino in Switzerland. The course was opened in 2001 and was designed by noted English architect Peter Harradine.

In 2008 Suzann Pettersen defeated Amy Yang although neither of those two players is here in 2009. Both are playing the LPGA event in New Jersey and the favouritism for this week’s event is likely to fall with Gwladys Nocera.

Nocera won five events on the 2008 Ladies European Tour and easily led their money list. Nocera finished third in this event last year with a stunning final round of 62.

The Australasians in the field this week inlcude Nikki Garrett, Lynnette Brooky, Joanne Mills and Frances Bondad.
