Tseng gets the job done in Corning

There has never been any doubt of the brilliance of Yani Tseng or for that matter her ability to regularly put herself in a position to win LPGA Tour events but in recent times she has backed out of more events than she has won.
Today however Tseng put the record straight with an impressive late surge to win her second LPGA Tour title, the final staging of the Corning Classic in Corning, New York, almost twelve months after her win at the McDonald’s LPGA Championship in June of last year.
She was perhaps the beneficiary of a last hole bogey by Soo-Yun Kang, who was playing in the last group behind Tseng, but nothing could be taken away from the Taiwanese star whose third round of 62 had put her right into the tournament.
After an early bogey today, Tseng was almost faultless in her pursuit of third round leaders, Kang and Mika Miyazato, and the fast finishing Paul Creamer had who set the early clubhouse target with consecutive weekend rounds of 65.
Creamer and Kang tied for second while rookie Miyazato finished fourth in her just her 9th LPGA Tour start, her second top ten of the season.
Teenager, Miyazato is a former World Junior Champion in her rookie season on the LPGA Tour and appears set to better her namesake, although no relation, Ai, who finished in a share of 5th position this week.
Lindsey Wright and Katherine Hull did best of the Australians finishing in 15th position, Wendy Doolan was 32nd, Sarah Kemp, after a fast start to the event, eventually finished 39th and Rachel Hetherington was 65th.
The LPGA Tour now has a one week break before the LPGA State Farm Classic in Illinois on June 4th.
