New Zealander Tim Wilkinson earned himself a start at the Open Championship when International Final Qualifying was completed at the Gleneagles Golf Club in Plano, Texas, today.

After the success of David Smail at final qualifying for the US Open in Japan on Monday, it has been a good couple of days for New Zealanders in terms of major championship prospects.

Wilkinson was one of only eight players to earn a start at Turnberry when he finished in a share of third with rounds of 65 and 67.

Matt Kuchar, Jeff Overton, Davis Love, Richard.S.Johnson, James Driscoll, Frederik Jacobson and Martin Laird were the others to make it through.
