A pending storm bought play to a halt in round two at the St Jude Classic in Memphis, those players still to complete their second round required to return at 7.00am on Saturday morning.
When play was called off, it was Verizon Heritage Champion Brian Gay who led at 10 under by two over Bryce Molder, both players having completed their rounds, while Robert Allenby is also at 8 under but has three holes to play.
Allenby will return to complete his round at the par four 7th, his 16th of the round, after dropping a shot at his final hole of the day by finding the greenside bunker and failing to get up and down.
Allenby lost a playoff to Justin Leonard in this event last year and given his amazing run of consistency in the last two years is overdue his first USPGA Tour win since 2001.
Woody Austin, Guy Boros and two time winner, David Toms, are one shot further back at 7 under.
The next best of the Australians after Allenby are Jason Day who continued his good recent form with a round of 65 to move to 5 under along with John Senden and Greg Chalmers, Nathan Green is at 4 under, Marc Leishman at 3 under, Aron Price, James Nitties, Peter Lonard and Jarrod Lyle at 1 under and Nick O’Hern at even par.
The cut looks likely to fall at either even par or 1 under.
