BY Bruce Young | LPGA Tour | 2002 Samsung World Championship | Preview | 01 Oct 2002
Twenty players line up at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo California in this week’s Samsung World Golf Championship, as the USLPGA season in the US draws to a close.
Following this week the next three events are in Korea and Japan with the USLPGA returning to the US for the Hyundai Teams event in mid November followed by the Tyco/ADT Tour Championship in Florida on November 21st.
This week’s event sees Dorothy Delasin defending one of her two wins from last year winning in 2001 by four shots over Se Ri Pak and Karrie Webb. Delasin’s year this season has not been as good with only two top tens from twenty starts.
The field includes Annika Sorenstam, Karrie Webb, Se Ri Pak, Mi Hyun Kim, and thirteen others from the USLPGA Tour money list plus Paula Marti (Europe), Mi Na Lee (Korea) and Mikino Kubo (Japan) from their respective tours.
Rachel Teske is the only other Australasian besides Webb in the field.
