Perry bounces back at Travelers

Kenny Perry has erased at least some of the memories of his Augusta National meltdown with an impressive three shot victory over David Toms and Paul Goydos at the Travelers Championship in Hartford.
Perry has made the cut in each of his five tournaments since Augusta but has not finished inside the top 20. He was on a great run prior to the Masters and now appears back on track and he will no doubt be a factor in almost anything he plays in coming weeks.
For the 48-year-old, it was his fifth PGA Tour victory in the past 13 months and to the delight of many he is playing his best golf in his late forties.
Perry started the final round one behind the 54 hole leader, Paul Goydos but Perry quickly took over with early birdies and by the turn was two ahead. He maintained that pace with birdies at the 10th and 11th holes and to all intents and purposes the tournament was his to win or lose over the closing stages. Two further birdies would see him run out an easy winner.
David Toms emerged from the pack with a final nine of 31 to finish in share of second with Goydos, who played his last four holes in four under including an eagle at the driveable par four 15th.
Course specialist Hunter Mahan, Ryan Moore and Ben Curtis finished in a share of 4th position.
The best of the Australians was Greg Chalmers, who birdied three of his last four holes to finish 19th, Mathew Goggin and Nick O’Hern were 26th, Peter Lonard, Nathan Green and Jarrod Lyle were 34th, Aron Price was 59th, Marc Leishman 70th and Aaron Baddeley made the cut but did not play the final round under the MDF rule.
The PGA Tour now moves south to The Congressional Golf Club just outside of Washington.
