Kemp brilliant at Jamie Farr Owens

BY Bruce Young | LPGA Tour | 2009 Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic | Round Two | 04 Jul 2009

New South Wales golfer, Sarah Kemp, continued the form she discovered last week in Rochester when she put together a brilliant final nine of 28 to finish with a second round of 63 at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic near Toledo. The round falls short of the course record round of 61 set by Se Ri Pak in 1998 but the 23-year-old from Tuncurry will be delighted with an important form turnaround in the last two weeks.

Kemp finished 15th last week at the Wegmans LPGA Championship, her best finish of the season and her second best finish on the LPGA Tour since earning her right to play at the elite level in late 2007.

After making the turn in two under par 35 today, Kemp birdied six holes on the way in and now shares the lead with joint first round leader, Laura Diaz, while Morgan Pressel is one behind at 10 under.

Last week’s runaway winner, Ji Yai Shin, American Natalie Gulbis and Seon Hwa Lee are at 9 under and just two behind the lead.

Another Australian Lindsey Wright is in a share of 7th place at 8 under and three behind the lead, Katherine Hull is 31st, Rachel Hetherington 46th and Anna Rawson 66th are the only other Australians to make the cut.
