With just a few players still to finish their second rounds at the Senior Open Championship, Fred Funk leads by three over Sam Torrance and by five over Loren Roberts.
Delays have meant that several players will be required to return on Saturday morning to complete round two but their efforts will not impact on the leaders. Funk added a second round of 65 to his opening 64 and has left some of the game’s greatest in his wake at this stage.
Funk added salt to the wounds of those behind him when he holed an eight iron from 168 yards at his final hole to leap to 11 under.
Torrance was another to shoot 65 on day two and has given himself a chance to win his first Senior Open Championship.
Most attention was on Tom Watson and how he would bounce back from the agony of last Sunday. Watson is at 4 under and shares 6th position with a large group of players including Greg Norman.
Norman is the leading Australian ahead of Wayne Grady in 47th position and Graham Marsh who still has four holes to play also in 47th position. Stewart Ginn and Noel Ratcliffe have also made the cut but are well back.
