Hiroyuki Fujita has won the Japan Golf Tour’s Nagashima Shigeo Invitational Sega Sammy Cup in Hokkaido, birdies at three of the last four holes enough to see him home by one shot over Kouki Idoki.

It was 40 year old Fujita’s seventh Japan Golf Tour win and moves him to the top of the 2009 Japan Golf Tour money list.

Runner up Idoki was looking for his first Japan Golf Tour win in sixteen years but the 47 year old who led by three after 54 holes was unable to hold off the winner’s strong finish.

Toru Taniguchi and early tournament leader, Katsuma Miyamoto, tied for third two shots behind the winner.

Australian Paul Sheehan produced a welcome return to form to finish in a share of 7th position and was the leading Australasian. It was Sheehan’s best finish in nearly two years on the Japan Golf Tour.

Brendan Jones finished tied for 22nd, Nathan Uebergang 35th, his best finish in his rookie season, Steve Conran 46th and Chris Campbell, who leads the secondary Challenge Tour money list, was 50th. Jones remains in 5th position on the Japan Golf Tour money list although New Zealander David Smail, despite missing the cut this week, retains his 4th position.

The Japan Golf Tour stays in Hokkaido for next week’s Sun Chlorella Classic.
