Ten Australians are now fully exempt for the US Open with the opportunity for several others still to join them via sectional qualifying early next week.

Sectional qualifying takes place at 12 sites in the US and one in England on June 6th and 7th with another in Japan having just been completed on Monday.

When the final qualifying deadline of May 30th was reached last Monday, Peter Lonard, Craig Parry and Rod Pampling, who were inside the top fifty in the world ranking, and Steve Conran, who qualified via sectional qualifying this week in Japan, were added to the names of six others who had made it via various other qualifying criteria.

Adam Scott, Stuart Appleby, Nick O’Hern, Robert Allenby, Richard Green, Mark Hensby are now joined by Lonard, Pampling, Parry and Conran with all now guaranteed starts at Pinehurst on June 16th.

Richard Green is in the field via his place at the top of the Australasian Tour Order of Merit in 2004.

Steve Conran, who is having yet another good year in Japan was the leading qualifier in Japan’s 36 hole qualifier and plays in what will be his first major.
