Green leads Titleist to five win week
US PGA Tour | 2009 Canadian Open | General | 29 Jul 2009
At the Monday conclusion of the rain-plagued RBC Canadian Open, Nathan Green (Pro V1) holed a par putt on the second hole of a sudden death playoff to capture his first career PGA TOUR victory.
The 34-year-old fired a 4-under 68 in the final round to finish regulation at 18-under 270. He saved par on the first playoff hole and then tapped in for a par and his first win in 112 career PGA TOUR starts. It was fitting that Green’s first victory would come in Canada. Green began his professional career on the Canadian Tour and, coincidentally, is a Toronto native (Toronto, Australia).
Titleist was the top golf ball choice at the RBC Canadian Open with 119 players (77%), nearly twelve times more than the nearest competitor with 10.
Green’s victory marks the 17th for Titleist golf ball loyalists on the PGA Tour, nearly three times more than the nearest competitor with 6.
With five more wins this week, including Loren Roberts’ (ProV1) second victory at the British Senior Open Championship and Argentina’s Ricardo Gonzalez (Pro V1x) fourth career European title at the SAS Masters, the 2009 Titleist golf ball victory count advanced to 86, that’s more than four times the nearest competitor with 19.
