Coles one back in Columbus

BY Bruce Young | Nationwide Tour | 2009 Nationwide Childrens Hospital Invitational | Round Two | 01 Aug 2009

Three players are tied for the lead at the halfway mark of the Nationwide Tour’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational event in Columbus, Ohio.

Joe Daley, Dave Schultz and Oklahoma State amateur Rickie Fowler, have a one shot lead Chris Tidland, Henrik Bjornstad and Australian Gavin Coles with New Zealander Phil Tataurangi in the group one shot further back and only two behind the lead.

Fowler, one of eight All Americans collegiate golfers given a start in this event, is in his sophomore year at Oklahoma State, and played this event last year finishing 40th.

Daley has missed six of his last eight cuts although a second round of 65 at the recent Cox Classic gave some hope to something better this week. Schultz is in his second season on the Nationwide Tour but has also struggled this season with a best of 21st in six starts.

After Coles and Tataurangi, David McKenzie and Grant Waite are the next best of the Australasians in 12th position, Paul Gow is having a better week and is in 19th position, Andrew Buckle 29th, while Won Joon Lee, Alistair Presnell and Scott Gardiner are 48th.
