All three Australians have made it through to the match play stage at the US Amateur being played in St Louis Missouri.
Julia Boland and Stacey Keating tied in 20th spot on 4 over 146 while Leanne Bowditch played much better today with a 1 over 72 to finish on 7 over 149 and in T46th position.
The medal was won by Californian Danielle Kang who finished the 36 hole qualifying event at Old Warson Country Club on 4 under 138 and now heads into the match play as the number one seed.
Stacey Keating is the first of the Australians off tomorrow and she faces the 40th seed Californian Kristen Park while Leanne Bowditch, in the same half of the draw as Keating, plays Canada’s Sara-Maude Junea in a little under an hour later.
Julia Boland will have a long wait before she tees off at 1pm against the 39th seed, Brooke Butler from Illinois. Fortunately she is in the other half of the draw to her travelling partner Stacey Keating. The duo have been very competitive with one another on their 12-week tour, with Boland pipping Keating 2 & 1 in Tennessee’s Trans Amateur final in July, then just last week both finished T7 at the Canadian Amateur.
Only one round of the match play will be contested tomorrow while if the girls advance, they will be forced to play 36 holes on Thursday (local time) for a spot in Friday’s quarter finals.
The US Amateur is the most prestigious amateur trophy in world amateur golf and will conclude with a 36 hole final on Sunday.
