Shin leads again at Torrey Pines

Ji Yai Shin has followed up her victory in last week’s NW Arkansas Championship by leading after 36 holes of the Samsung World Golf Championship at Torrey Pines in San Diego.

Shin shared the lead after round one with Song-Hee Kim but, as Kim dropped back, Shin took control and leads by one over the in-form Ai Miyazato and Lorena Ochoa who chipped in for eagle at the final hole to move within one.

Ochoa appears to have rediscovered her form and her desire in her last two starts and the event might yet develop into a battle between the two most prolific winners on the LPGA Tour in the past twelve months.

Former winner of this event Sophie Gustafson is at 7 under and just two from the lead.

Cristie Kerr was the biggest mover on day two her round of 66 moving her into contention after a slow start to the event. Kerr is at 6 under and not too far back to mount a serious challenge.

Karrie Webb and Lindsey Wright, the only two Australians in the tournament, share 14th position in the 20 player field at 1 over par.
