The Victorian Men’s interstate team have extended their lead following today’s third round in the Australian men’s interstate teams series being contested at the Peninsula Country Club in Victoria.

Daniel Beckmann remains undefeated in the series following a 3&2 afternoon victory in his singles match over Western Australia’s, Jason Scrivener. In the morning foursome match the formidable combination of Beckmann and Bryden Macpherson were again successful, easily overcoming the Western Australian pair of Michael Dennis and Brody Ninyette, 8&7.

Beckmann and Macpherson are yet to lose a match this series and have been supported by Victoria’s number 2 pairing of Luke Bleumink & Ashley Umbers, and number 3 pairing of Kieran Pratt & Craig Hasthorpe, who are also undefeated.

In another convincing win, Bryden Macpherson was too strong for Matt Jager, disposing of the New Zealand Amateur Champion, 6&5. Jager, who has played the number one position for Western Australia is yet to win a singles encounter in this series and will be eager to get a singles win on the board. The Victorians won their encounter with the West Australians eight matches to four, to currently hold a match margin over South Australia.

South Australia proved to be too strong for the Tasmanian team, winning their encounter 8 matches to 3, with their lower order of Daniel Speirs, Tom Bond, Chris Brown and Chris Austin, all winning their singles matches, whilst South Australia won three of the four foursome matches and squared the top order match of Max McCardle & Jordan Sherratt against Tasmania’s Ryan McCarthy & Kalem Richardson.

New South Wales is yet to win an encounter after the opening three days, loosing 6 1/2 to 4 1/2 to Queensland, with Daniel Nisbet winning his match against Brendan Smith, 1up, whilst Tim Hart accounted for Michael Raseta, 3&2. Michael Smyth at number 3 for NSW, pipped Queensland’s, Brett Rankin, 1up.
