Two-time USPGA Tour winner, Olin Browne, today shot 59 in the second round of final US Open qualifying at the Woodmont Golf Club in Rockville Maryland to earn a start at the US Open at Pinehurst next week.
After an opening round of 73 gave him little chance of advancing, Browne shot 59 in the weather delayed second round to finish in 4th place amongst the 22 who qualified at that venue.
It was the second occasion in recent years and on this golf course where a player has broken 60 in qualifying for the US Open. In 2000 Shigeki Maruyama shot 58 when qualifying for the 2000 US Open.
