Vaughn Taylor leads after the second round of the Turning Stone Resort Championship in Vernon New York, handling the cold and damp conditions well enough to have a one shot lead over Nicholas Thomson, Matt Kuchar and Leif Olson in the first of the Fall Series of events.
Taylor needs something special over the next few weeks as the two time PGA Tour winner is currently in 131st position on the money list and this provides a great opportunity to relieve himself of the worries of retaining his PGA Tour status for 2010.
Thomson and Olson are in similar positions, more especially Olson who has made just four of 17 cuts in his rookie season after graduating through all three stages of the Tour School last year.
The leading Australian is rookie Aron Price who at 140th on the money list also needs something special over the next few weeks. Price’s second round of 65 moved him into a share of 7th position three behind Taylor’s lead.
At 6 under and one shot further back are John Senden, Aaron Baddeley and Rod Pampling, Scott displaying a glimpse of the form that his captain in next week’s Presidents Cup will have been hoping for.
Jarrod Lyle is 22nd, Matt Jones 31st, Michael Sim and Greg Chalmers 38th, Peter Lonard, James Nitties, Stuart Appleby and Nathan Green 51st, while Nick O’Hern and Steve Elkington just made the cut in 67th position.
