The end is near for PGA Tour hopefuls

Played opposite the Presidents Cup in California, the Nationwide Tour’s Chattanooga Classic will fly under the radar this week but for several golfers it could well turn out to be one of the more significant events of their careers.
The tournament is again played at the Brian Silva designed Black Creek Club where it has been hosted since its inaugural staging in 2003.
With just this week and next week’s Miccosukee Classic in Florida to come before the lucrative season-ending Tour Championship, this is an important week for those trying to position themselves for a big late run at PGA Tour cards and other money list milestones.
Only two players from the top ten on this year’s money list, Blake Adams and Henrik Bjornstad, will take their place in this week’s field where prizemoney is only half of that played for last week in San Jacinto. Other leading players who feel their cards for next year are already assured have chosen this week to recharge their batteries for the final two events of the year.
The Australasian challenge is significant numerically. Steve Alker, Steve Allan, Adam Bland, Steve Bowditch, Gavin Coles, Stuart Deane, Nick Flanagan, Scott Gardiner, Paul Gow, Bradley Iles, Won Joon Lee, David McKenzie, Cameron Percy, Ewan Porter, Alistair Presnell, Phil Tataurangi and Grant Waite all get their chance to further their cause.
Of those perhaps only Cameron Percy is already assured of his PGA Tour card in 2010.
