Garcia, Drysdale lead in Madrid

Scotland’s David Drysdale and local hero Sergio Garcia lead at the halfway stage of the Madrid Masters, opening up a one shot lead over Emanuele Canonica, Ross McGowan and Gary Murphy at the Centro Nacional de Golf in Madrid.
Garcia, in his first tournament since the BMW Championship a month ago, lived up to his standing as the leading World ranked player in the field (8) by adding a second round of 67 to his opening round of 64, while Drysdale eagled his final hole nearly five hours later to share the 36 hole lead.
Despite missing the cut last week at the Alfred Dunhill not too far from his home in Edinburgh, Drysdale is having his best year in professional golf and his opening two days this week have created a good opportunity for the 34 year old to win his first European Tour event.
In a disappointing week for the small Australasian contingent only Mark Brown will play the weekend. He sits at 4 under and is in 65th position having only just made the cut.
