Ai Miyazato today became the beneficiary of a late stumble by Korean golfer Mi Jeong-Jeon and won the Sankyo Ladies Open in Gunma Prefecture in Japan. In doing so the still only 24 year old won her first Japan Golf Tour title in Japan in three years.

It was Miyazato’s 14th career win on the Japan LPGA Tour but her first since leaving to play the LPGA Tour full time in 2007.

Miyazato, who won for the first time on the LPGA Tour this season when she won the Evian Masters, came from five shots off the second round lead of Jeong’s to snatch victory after Jeong faltered over the closing four holes. A bogey and two double bogeys by Jeong cost the 26 year old her fourth title of the season.

Miyazato finished one shot ahead of Jeong and Mayu Hattori.

Australia’s Nikki Campbell had worked herself into fourth position before a double bogey by her at the last hole saw her slip to 9th position.

Campbell however it was her 8th top ten of the season and she moves into 20th position on the money list.
