Parry and Scott to play at EMC World Cup in Mexico

The PGA TOUR of Australasia today announced that Craig Parry and Adam Scott will represent Australia at the 2002 EMC World Cup to be played on the Jack Nicklaus course at Vista Vallarta Club de Golf in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico between December 12 – 15 2002.
Parry and Scott, currently ranked 45th and 49th respectively on the Official World Golf Rankings, have enjoyed extremely successful years playing on the major overseas Tours.
Parry, who plays predominantly on the US PGA TOUR, won the USD $5 million World Golf Championships – NEC Invitational in August and is currently ranked 36th on the US PGA TOUR Money List with over AUD $2.5 million in earnings.
Scott is a two-time winner on the European Tour in 2002 with victories in the Qatar Masters and in the Diageo Scottish PGA Championship and currently sits in ninth position on the European Tour’s Volvo Order of Merit with over AUD $2 million in prizemoney.
Parry currently leads the Australasian PGA TOUR Order or Merit and both players have committed to playing in Australia later this year.
The EMC World Cup is one of the four World Golf Championship events sanctioned by the PGA TOUR of AUSTRALASIA and the other Major International Golf Tour’s along with the Accenture MatchPlay Championship, the NEC Invitational and the American Express Championship.
Australia last won the World Cup in 1989 when Wayne Grady teamed with Peter Fowler to defeat the Spanish Team of Jose Maria Olazabal and Jose Maria Canizares by three strokes at Club de Golf Las Brisas in Marbella, Spain.
