Fujita and Lee lead tight Japan Open

Hiroyuki Fujita and American, Han Lee, share the lead at the completion of halfway stage of the Japan Open Golf Championship at the Musashi Golf Club in Saitama near Tokyo, their 36 hole total of 3 under establishing a narrow one shot lead over the field.
32 year old Lee, has yet to win on the Japan Golf Tour but finished runner up to Yuta Ikeda at last week’s Canon Open while 40 year old Fujita is an eight time winner on the Japan Golf Tour including a victory earlier this season at the Sega Sammy Cup.
Two time Japan Open champion, Shingo Katayama, is just one off the lead and shares third position with five other golfers including 2002 champion, New Zealander David Smail.
Brendan Jones is the leading Australian at 1 under and just two shots from the lead after a second round of 70 including a disappointing bogey at his final hole. Jones is however well positioned as he seeks his first Japan Open title.
Steve Conran was the only other Australian to make the cut and is in 49th position at 4 over par.
The much anticipated challenge from Ryo Ishikawa has yet to eventuate, the 18 year old recording a second round of 76 to be at 2 over and in 38th position although only five shots from the lead.
