The Cellarbrations NSW PGA Championship tees off at the Wollongong Golf Club tomorrow with the inform Craig Scott a good chance to win his first event at this level.

The talented Victorian put together a very good weekend at last week’s Australian Masters to finish 9th, certainly the best finish in that event by any in this week’s field.

The Wollongong Golf Club is one of the oldest Links courses in NSW and was built in the late 1800’s.

Kurt Barnes is preparing for a title at the Final Stage of qualifying for the Japan Golf Tour and will enter this week following a solid 26th place finish at last week’s Australian Masters. Like Scott, Barnes has more talent than his results to date would indicate and this event not only provides a chance to improve his standing on the Australasian Tour money list but to ready his game for the Japan Tour School which gets under way on December 2nd.

Ten or so others in this week’s field are heading for Japan including the 2008 New South Wales Open winner Aaron Townsend.

Other players expected to do well in this field are South Australian Jason Norris, the in-form New Zealander Mike Hendry, defending champion Tim Wood, Steve Jeffress and last year’s WA PGA Champion Michael Long.

The event is being televised and a highlights package will be aired on ONE HD in two weeks time, just prior to the Australian Open being shown on Saturday December 5th.
