Mixed results at PGA Tour School

The Second Stage of qualifying for the USPGA Tour has been completed at six venues across the USA and for the Australasian contingent there have been mixed results.

In Kingwood in Texas, Jamie Arnold finished 17th at his venue and is one of 22 graduates to the Final Stage in two weeks time. It was a good day for the Arnold family as brother Scott finished runner up at the New South Wales PGA in Wollongong just a few hours later.

In McKinney in Texas, South Australian David Lutterus has made it through as has New Zealander Brad Iles. Iles already enjoys full status for the 2010 Nationwide Tour but will be seeking the chance to play the USPGA Tour for the first time at the Final Stage. The unlucky loser in the event was Queensland’s Steve Bowditch, who missed by an agonising one shot.

In Panama City in Florida, Queenslander Brad Kennedy appeared to be well on track to secure his right to play the Finals but three late bogeys in his final round cost him dearly. He missed by one.

The surprise in Panama City was the withdrawal of both Paul Gow and Peter Lonard after three rounds both now without either PGA Tour or Nationwide Status.

In Georgia, Queenslanders, Bronson La Cassie and Ray Beaufils are through to the Finals.

Beaumont in California was a productive venue for Australasians with Phil Tataurangi, Mark Hensby, Won Joon Lee and David McKenzie all advancing.

The Final Stage of qualifying where 25 cards will be made available to the 2010 PGA Tour and varying degrees of Nationwide Tour status will be held on December 2nd to the 7th at the Bear Lakes Golf Club in Florida.
