Koumei Oda has bookended his regular tour season in Japan this season with a win in today’s Casio World Open coming seven months after his victory at the season opening Token Homemate Cup in April.
Oda won by three shots over Ryo Ishikawa after a final round of 65 saw him edge ahead of the third round co-leader. Tetsuji Hiratsuka finished alone in third place two behind Ishikawa.
Oda successfully defended the title he won twelve months ago when he also claimed the title by three although on that it occasion it was Kenichi Kuboya who finished runner up.
For 31-year-old Oda this was his third Japan Tour win and he moves into third position behind Ishikawa and Yuta Ikeda on the 2009 money list. Ishikawa has taken a significant lead over Ikeda with only this week’s restricted field Japan Series in Tokyo left to play.
Brendan Jones was the leading Australasian in 15th position, Eddie Lee was 31st and Paul Sheehan 58th.
