Scott ends day three in charge at Open

A birdie on the last hole during the third round of the Australian Open has Adam Scott at 15-under-par and two strokes ahead of 2001 champion Stuart Appleby moving into the final round at NSW Golf Club.
Scott fired an impressive 5-under-par 67 to add to his opening rounds of 68-66-67 to set the stage for his first victory on Australian soil.
The day’s low round went to Cameron Percy with a 6-under-par 66.
Overnight leader, Stuart Appleby, managed a 1-under-par, 71, but three bogeys during his opening nine holes where the main blemishes in his third round.
Every year Scott returns to play the Australian Tour events he is asked “is this the year for the first win?”.
Scott always remains positive in his response, like the same way he did this afternoon at La Perouse.
“The Australian Open is like a fifth major,” said Scott.
“I would be a pleasure to win and to win this tournament on this course, but there’s another round to play and with the way this course plays, nothing is for certain.”
