Daly opens up to Woods

After finishing his third round at the Hyatt Regency Coolum it was a no-brainer that John Daly would be questioned regarding the announcement by Tiger Woods this morning.

After all Daly has been the subject of immense public scrutiny throughout his career and perhaps more than any other player aware of the fishbowl appeal a wayward private life can generate.

Woods indicated that he will take an indefinite break from tournament golf following the fallout from what he described as the ’infidelity and the transgression’ in his life.

“I’ve tried to get hold of Tiger and have left messages with him and his management but as yet I have had no response,” said Daly.

“I just wish he had gone public earlier as it would have made it easier in terms of what has been going on. I’ve set myself up for that same thing a lot of times and my advice early on was for him to come out and make a statement.”

“Mark Steinberg is a good agent and so are IMG but there is little doubt they should have come out with a statement earlier.”

“I pray and hope they both get through this as I love them both but the last thing anyone should be doing is to get back together for the kids or the money but rather because they love each other.”

“They say nobody is bigger than the game but, right now, Tiger is and I hope we get him back out here soon.”

“I’m in shock about it all and am a little disappointed the way some of our players have reacted.”

For the record Daly finished with a round of 72 and is at even par for the tournament heading into tomorrow’s final round.
