Final qualifying for the 2010 Asian Tour begins this Wednesday at the Palm Hills Golf Club and Springfield Royal Country Club courses in Hua Hin in Thailand where 170 hopefuls will attempt to secure one of the Asian Tour cards available to the leading 40 players and ties.
The courses will be alternated over the opening two days before the event reaches its climax over the final 36 holes at the Royal Springfield Country Club.
The number of Australasians is down this year, perhaps a reflection on the fact that with One Asia events becoming a reality there is an option for those players who might otherwise have thought of the Asian Tour as a logical place to play.
Nonetheless there are still several from this part of the world keen to earn their right to play the currently confirmed 16 event schedule on the Asian Tour which begins with the Asian Tour International in Thailand on February 4th.
29 year old, Kane Webber, who won the 2006 Macau Open, is back in an attempt to regain his playing rights. Originally from Lismore in NSW, Webber played collegiate golf in Colorado before earning his Asian Tour card in 2006. He finished 15th on the money list in 2008 before a horror year in 2009 where he failed to make a cut.
Other Australians in the line-up include Neven Basic, Peter Cooke, Adam Groom, Richard Moir, Scott Arnold, Rohan Blizard, Tim Stewart and Jason King amongst others.
