At the completion of final stage qualifying for the 2010 Asian Tour in Thailand today, six Australians have earned the right to play the Asian Tour this season.
The overall Medallist honours went to Filipino Artemio Murakami who defeated Holland’s Guido Van de Velk in a playoff to earn the number one card.
The leading Australian was South Australian, Peter Cooke, who regains the playing privileges he first earned for the 2008 Asian Tour season. Cooke finished in a share of 5th position.
Victorian based Queenslander, Richard Moir, is another to have regained his right to play in Asia after losing his card in 2009 after five years as a member. Moir’s last round of 65 moved him into a share of 11th along with Kunal Bhasin.
Bhasin is an Australian based Indian golfer who recently won his first event on the professional Golf Tour of India.
South Australian Brad Smith slipped to 23rd, after a good start to the week, but earns a card. Smith played collegiate golf in the US and recently secured his Australasian Tour card.
Rohan Blizard, the 2007 Australian Amateur Champion, and fellow Sydneysider, Jason King, also get the chance to play in Asia again having just scrapped into a share of 40th position. Both played in Asia in 2009.
