Eagles set Hull soaring at Canberra

Three eagles have rocketed Katherine Hull to a two shot lead after the second round of the Actew AGL Royal Canberra Ladies Classic today.

Hull tore the par fives apart with eagles on the 4th, 15th and 16th holes. It was the first time and she later admitted “probably my last” time that the Queenslander had recorded three eagles in the one round.

The defending ANZ Ladies Masters Champion ended her day on 5 under 68 but her round could have been anything after she was forced to call a penalty on herself.

The incident happened on her third hole of the day, the par four 12th while attempting to clear some surrounding debris her ball accidentally moved. Hull walked off with a double bogey.

First round leader Sarah Jane Smith couldn’t quite match her stunning first round 7 under 66, but still carded a 2 under 71 to be two shots behind Hull on 9 under 137.

One of this season’s form players, Sarah Kemp is in outright third on 8 under 138 while young guns Kristie Smith and Stephanie Na round out the top five sitting T4th on 7 under 139.
