PGA Tour of Australasia member, David Diaz, has offered the chance of a lifetime by auctioning on eBay the opportunity to any keen golfer to act as his caddy throughout the week of the British Open Golf Tournament at St Andrews in Scotland this month.
Diaz, a member of the Australasian Tour since 1990, gained entry to the Open Championship at Final International Qualifying at Kingston Heath in January along with Peter Fowler, Nick Flanagan and Martin Doyle.
After his caddy made himself unavailable for The Open Championship a little over a week ago, Diaz came up with the idea of auctioning the opportunity after speaking with a fellow Tour member.
"I just decided it was a great opportunity and that I could give someone the chance to share that. This is The Open Championship and this is a fantastic experience for someone who normally wouldn't get it, so if they can afford it, why not," said Diaz.
"I don't need a professional golfer, I just want someone who can carry the bag, pick out the good sorts in the crowd and just suck it up and enjoy the experience."
According to ebay, the successful candidate must be a single figure golfer and be physically fit enough to carry Diaz's bag for five or six days of golf as required through the practice round and any preliminary round, and must be prepared to work with David on course under the player's direction.
The auction closes on 10 July at 3.15pm (AEST)
