Harrington takes Transitions lead

BY Bruce Young | US PGA Tour | 2010 Transitions Championship | Round Two | 20 Mar 2010

Padraig Harrington has continued on from his very good week last week in Miami by adding a second round of 65 at the Copperhead layout at the Innisbrook Golf Club at Palm Harbour in Florida and leads the Transitions Championship after 36 holes.

Harrington has edged one shot clear of defending champion Retief Goosen, another previous winner in Carl Pettersen, Jim Furyk and Bubba Watson. Jeff Maggert, Steve Elkington and world number two Steve Stricker are one shot further back.

Harrington finished third last week at the WGC-CA Championship and after an opening round of 69 yesterday he put together a fine exhibition of putting today with seven birdies and one bogey to take the halfway lead.

Adam Scott and Mathew Goggin are the next best of the Australasians after Elkington in 18th position at 3 under and five behind the lead, Nick O’Hern is 23rd, Tim Wilkinson and John Senden 29th, Aaron Baddeley and Greg Chalmers 55th and Rod Pampling, Geoff Ogilvy, Jason Day, Nathan Green and James all just sneaking inside the cut in 29th position.
