Els leads Arnold Palmer

Ernie Els great start to 2010 looks set to continue tomorrow when he takes a one shot lead into the final round of the Arnold Palmer Championship in Orlando.

A fine up and down to save par at the last in today’s third round kept him one shot ahead of Ben Curtis who bogeyed two holes late in his round to lose the lead.

There are a further two shots back to Chris Couch with a gap of one further shot back to Kevin Na and Edoardo Molinari who are in a share of 4th position and four from the lead.

Els is seeking two wins in succession following his great week at Doral, a win tomorrow likely to take him close to the top five in the world ranking after being 20th three weeks ago.

Curtis, the 2003 Open Champion, has not played this event well in recent times missing his last two cuts at Bay Hill. He did play well when 4th in 2007 and is although he sometimes cops criticism for being a long-shot winner at Royal St Georges, at his best he is a class player.

Jim Furyk and Retief Goosen are amongst those in the group at 5 under and although five from the lead they are not out of it.

The leading Australian is Robert Allenby in 16th position while an improved Stuart Appleby is in 23rd position along with Jason Day and Nathan Green.
