Arnold Palmer finish delayed

BY Bruce Young | US PGA Tour | 2010 Arnold Palmer Invitational | Round Four | 29 Mar 2010

Play in round four of the Arnold Palmer Championship at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge has been suspended and will resume at 10.00am (local time) on Monday with Ernie Els leading by two with just four holes to play.

Tee times on day four had been brought forward to accommodate a possible weather interruption but the weather had the last say. Play was initially called at 2.30 as a result of threatening weather. Heavy rain arrived 30 minutes later and play was eventually abandoned for the day at 5.30pm with twelve players still to complete their final rounds.

Ernie Els finished his day in the worst possible manner with a double bogey and a bogey at the 13th and 14th holes but he still leads by two over Kevin Na with Retief Goosen, Ben Curtis and Chris Couch one further back.

Els had established a five shot lead through 12 holes with six birdies and two bogeys in that stretch but he found the water with his approach at the par four 13th and then pulled his tee shot at the par three 14th and was unable to get up and down.

Following the win of Louis Oosthuizen in Spain a few hours earlier Els looks likely to complete yet another great week for South African golf with Goosen also a chance to further enhance that claim.

Robert Allenby will finish as the leading Australian in 14th position at this stage, John Senden and Jason Day are 26th, Stuart Appleby 30th, Rod Pampling, Marc Leishman and Nathan Green 40th.
