China’s Liang Wen-chong has maintained his three shot lead at the Luxehills Chengdu Open and will tomorrow take that lead into the final round of the opening event of the 2010 OneAsia Tour season.
Two late bogeys by Liang have given his closest chasers some hope after the 31 year old appeared to have taken an unassailable lead midway through his round today.
Kurt Barnes who was tied in second position at the completion of 36 holes stayed in touch by matching Liang’s round of 68 but it would be the Korean Hyung Tae Kim who served notice that he could yet be Liang’s greatest threat on day four with a round of 65. Barnes and Kim are tied in second position with teenager Bio Kim round in 69 today to be alone in 4th.
The tournament appears to be Liang’s to win or lose on day four. The leading world ranked player in the field has led from his opening round of 64 and his two late bogeys today were the only blemishes in his opening 54 holes.
Kyung Nam Kang, Masaya Tomida and New Zealander David Smail are tied in 5th position at 13 under and 5 behind Liang.
Three Australians, Scott Strange, Stephen Allan and Terry Pilkadaris are one shot further back in a share of 8th position
