Since turning professional in 2001, Alaban has predominantly played various feeder tours with mixed success, which has included two second place finishes at the 2006 South Australian PGA and Western Australian PGA Championships.

Ryan McCarthy is at 3-under-par in outright 3rd position, a stroke ahead of a pack of four players at 2-under-par, including defending champion Daniel Beckmann, multiple National Trial winner Jin Jeong, Ryan Peake and Matthew Stieger.

Luke Bleumink is in a tie for 8th at 1-under-par, a stroke ahead of eight players at even par in a tie for 11th that includes Matt Jager, Daniel Bringolf and Michael Williams.

The cut will be the top 70 plus ties following today’s round, with final 36 holes being played on Monday.
