Queenslander, Gavin Flint is playing in his first USPGA Tour event this week and has made a promising start. Flint, who played his first event as a professional at last year’s Queensland PGA Championship and earlier this year won an event on the Von Nida Tour, opened with a first round of 69 at the BC Open and is in 40th position at the completion of round one.
With the cut score looking likely to be around three under tomorrow, Flint will look to take advantage of an earlier tee time in round two when he tees it up at 8:30am.
Another Australian playing in this event for the first time and in just his second USPGA Tour event is Georgia Southern graduate, Aaron Price, who struggled with an opening 73. Price, who is from New South Wales, played this year at the MCI Heritage Classic where he just missed the cut.
The leading Australians in the event are Brendan Jones and John Senden who both opened with first round 67’s.
