Japan Tour returns for Diamond Cup

BY Bruce Young | Japan Tour | 2010 Diamond Cup | Preview | 26 May 2010

The Japan Golf Tour is in the Tokyo area this week when the Diamond Cup is played at the Sayama Golf Club in Saitama to the north of the city. In what has been a stop start schedule to date, the Japan Golf Tour plays this week and then next week’s Tour Championship in nearby Ibaraki before yet another two week break.

After missing the cut in the recent Japan PGA Championship, Ryo Ishikawa gets the chance to atone in front of what will no doubt be a massive gallery of Tokyo golf fans. This is not a tournament in which he has played well although this is his first time at this venue.

The Australasian contingent is headed by their leading player on this year’s money list, Paul Sheehan, who will be buoyed by securing a US Open start earlier in the week, while David Smail, Brendan Jones, Craig Parry, Steve Conran, Wayne Perske, Brad Andrews, Chris Campbell, Kurt Barnes and Eddie Lee.
