Bjorn wins by five in Portugal

Robert Karlsson and Thomas Bjorn, two of Sweden’s understated but highly successful golfing stars have re established themselves in world golf, Karlsson finishing runner up to Lee Westwood in Memphis and a little earlier on the same day, Thomas Bjorn winning his first tournament in four years when successful at the Open de Portugal.
Bjorn, a one-time top ten player in world golf, has slipped from glory in recent times but in the last two weeks he seems to have found something. Six consecutive missed cuts were followed by a 9th place finish in Wales a week ago and this week he was simply outstanding on the Penha Longa Golf Club near Lisbon, winning by five shots over Richard Green.
Mark Haastrup was third while Robert Rock continues his recent good form when 4th. For Rock it was the 4th consecutive top five finish in his last four events, that elusive win still just beyond his grasp.
New Zealander Mark Brown did well to finish 19th after some indifferent form of late. Marcus Fraser was the best Australian in 21st position.
