Annika Sorenstam.....what more can you say?

It is a little hard to think of what to write next when it comes to describing the performances of Annika Sorenstam. Nine official wins on the USLPGA wins plus two others elsewhere this year leaves little further to talk about, other than perhaps the records she is creating.

Sorenstam still trails the remarkable feat of Mickey Wright in 1963, who won thirteen events that year, but she has smashed money records and most others, this win taking her earnings for 2002 to $US2,373,000.

Her win here, at the Samsung World Championship of Golf, over Christie Kerr was by six shots but although it sounds like an easy win and I suppose in the end it was, Christie Kerr had taken the fight to the Swede through three rounds. Kerr’s horror start in round four, where she was three over through two holes, spelt doom although she was able to recover to hold second place ahead of Michelle Redman. Redman has played very well of late perhaps motivated by Catrin Nilsmark’s none too complimentary remarks about her prior to the Solheim Cup.

Se Ri Pak and Rosie Jones tied for fourth with Rachel Teske producing a good weekend, including a last round 65, to finish in sixth tied with Lorie Kane.

Karie Webb was 16th in the elite twenty player field.

Final Round – Australasian Scores
T6 -11 Rachel Teske (72-73-67-65)
16 -3 Karrie Webb (75-71-68-71)
