The 2010 US Women’s Open is to be played this coming week at the Oakmont Country Club in the suburbs of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and six Australians have earned the right to tee it up in the most significant event in women’s golf.

Two time winner, Karrie Webb, is joined by Lindsey Wright, Katherine Hull, Tamie Durdin, Sarah Kemp, and Anna Rawson will all get their chance in the third major championship of 2010.

Durdin, Kemp and Rawson played their way into the event via Sectional Qualifying while for Webb, Hull and Wright they are in the field as a result of their performances on the LPGA Tour.

The Oakmont Country Club is being used for just the second occasion for this championship, 18 years after it was first staged at the Henry Fownes designed layout in 1992.

The venue has staged the most US Open Championships (8), the last of which was held in 2007 when won by Angel Cabrera.
