Huge Australasian field in Nebraska

BY Bruce Young | Nationwide Tour | 2010 Cox Classic | Preview | 29 Jul 2010

Another big purse awaits the field at this week’s Nationwide Tour Cox Classic in Omaha, Nebraska, the US$130,000 providing the opportunity for any one of the top 55 or so leaders on the Nationwide Tour money list to play their way to the 2011 PGA Tour with victory this week.

The Champions Run Golf Club is a Jeffrey Brauer designed layout that has been home to this event since first played in 1992.

As was the case at last week’s Nationwide Children’s event in Ohio, this week’s tournament is a must play given the money available and all the leading players are taking part again including the leading money winner Jamie Lovemark and his nearest pursuer Tom Gainey.

As is the case every week on the Nationwide Tour, the Australasian challenge is strong.

Steve Alker, Adam Bland, Steve Bowditch, Andrew Buckle, Gavin Coles, Nick Flanagan, Scott Gardiner, Mark Hensby, Brad Iles, Bronson La Cassie, Stephen Leaney, Won Joon Lee, Jarrod McKenzie, Jarrod Lyle, Ewan Porter, Alistair Presnell, Andre Stolz, Phil Tataurangi and qualifier Ray Beaufils make a total of 19 from this region in the field.

A win by any one of them would get them at least inside the top twenty on the money list and on track for PGA Tour status in 2011.
