A first was created on the Asian Tour today when Bangladesh’s 25-year-old, Siddikur, defeated South African Jbe Kruger on the first hole of a sudden death playoff to win the Brunei Open at the Empire Hotel and Country club in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Siddikur is in just his second season on the Asian Tour but became the first ever golfer from his country to win on the Asian Tour securing US$47,000 in the process.

“It is very exciting. I’m the first Bangladeshi to play on the Asian Tour and in the two years that I’m on Tour, I have won a tournament. It is unbelievable,” Siddikur told the Asian Tour.

“I didn’t expect to win. Thankfully, everything in my game clicked and I was able to win,” he added.

The leading Australian was Queenslander Adam Blyth who finished in a share of 7th while defending champion Darren Beck was in a share of 10th position.

The Asian Tour will now play the Selangor Masters at the Seri Selangor Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur won last year by Rick Kulacz.
