Champions Tour debuts in Korea

BY Bruce Young | Champions Tour | 2010 Posco E&C Songdo Championship | Preview | 09 Sep 2010

The Champions Tour makes one of its rare overseas stops this week when the inaugural Posco E&C Songdo Championship is played at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Songdo in the south of the Korean Peninsula.

It will be the first ever Champions Tour event played in Asia and given the presence of players such as Bernhard Langer, Tom Watson, Fred Funk, Jay Haas, Mark Calcavecchia, Mark O’Meara and others, this first foray into this part of the world is sure to attract a lot of interest.

A Champions Tour record purse of US$3 million has gone a long way to ensuring a high quality field for the event. The field is limited to just 57 players but nine are major championship winners.

Peter Senior and Graham Marsh are the only two Australians in the field.
