Tseng makes it three this season

Yani Tseng has come from behind to defeat Michelle Wie at the P&G NW Arkansas, Tseng doing enough in the early stages of her back nine to establish an unassailable lead.

Wie had taken a three shot lead into today’s third and final round but was overtaken by Tseng when the Taiwanese golfer put together four birdies in five holes early in her back nine.

Wie fought back with birdies at the final two holes but by then the horse had bolted with Tseng winning her third event of 2010 and closing within US$35,000 of Ji Yai Shin’s money list lead.

Though nine holes today Tseng was forced to remind herself just what she was here to do.

“After 9 holes, I feel like my heart is not fighting, I didn’t feel like I really want to win this tournament.”

“So after 9 holes, I just wrote a lot of things on my yardage book, like, ’I can do this.’ Just feel like you really, really want to win this tournament.”

Tseng moves to the top of the Player of the Year list but still trails the world’s leading player Ai Miyazato in the Rolex World Ranking.

Shin finished 5th this week but still holds a narrow lead on the money list.

Sarah Kemp led the Australians in 29th position, Anna Rawson was 41st, Lindsey Wright 51st and Sarah Jane Smith 81st.
